🇨🇦Leeside Tunnel Skateboard Park
DIY · indoor · Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
read at 18:00 local · weather: open-meteo
A volunteer-built DIY park inside an abandoned 49 m tunnel under the Cassiar Connector at East Hastings, named for skater and artist Lee Matasi, who was killed in Gastown in 2005. About a dozen hand-built mini-ramps, quarter pipes and grind poles fill the tunnel.
Heads up · Reach it down the lane behind the E-Comm building off East Pender; laneway parking is tight, so park on East Pender and keep the driveways clear.

How the read works
We track the water on the ground hour by hour, starting two days back. Rain adds to it; sun, wind and dry air take it away (the forecast's evaporation figure, which folds all three together); frost locks it in. Concrete sheds most of a downpour and dries in a couple of hours on a good day. Dirt soaks it up and takes a day or more, and riding it while it's mud ruts it. It's a model, not a camera: shady corners and the bottom of a bowl hold water longer. Weather from Open-Meteo.
