Ride report
🇺🇸Washington Street Skatepark
DIY · San Diego, California, United States
read at 18:00 local · weather: open-meteo
Skaters started building it under the highway at Washington Street in 1999, when San Diego had no public parks; the maze of bowls, spines and hips with an over-vert capsule has won Thrasher's T-Eddy for best park.
Heads up · The gate is padlocked and opens when a keyholder shows up, so times vary; expect kinks and steep lines.

How the read works
We track the water on the ground hour by hour, starting two days back. Rain adds to it; sun, wind and dry air take it away (the forecast's evaporation figure, which folds all three together); frost locks it in. Concrete sheds most of a downpour and dries in a couple of hours on a good day. Dirt soaks it up and takes a day or more, and riding it while it's mud ruts it. It's a model, not a camera: shady corners and the bottom of a bowl hold water longer. Weather from Open-Meteo.
