Surfin' Turf opened in 1979 with five concrete pools designed by Art Kent and was later filled with gravel; Grindline rebuilt the five original bowls to their 1979 scale, plus a combi bowl and street course, and the city rededicated it on June 7, 2025.

Heads up · Rebuilt 1970s pool shapes, so expect old-school transitions; open dawn to dusk.

Bring

  • 10 °C → a layer you can drop by the fence
  • Gusts 37 km/h → keep it low, and watch your board on the deck
  • Always → a helmet (required at many parks and every track), and pads for transition and dirt
  • After dark → we don't know if it's lit; bring a light

How the read works

We track the water on the ground hour by hour, starting two days back. Rain adds to it; sun, wind and dry air take it away (the forecast's evaporation figure, which folds all three together); frost locks it in. Concrete sheds most of a downpour and dries in a couple of hours on a good day. Dirt soaks it up and takes a day or more, and riding it while it's mud ruts it. It's a model, not a camera: shady corners and the bottom of a bowl hold water longer. Weather from Open-Meteo.
