In Kin Coulee Park below Medicine Hat College, where a 13,500 sq ft addition in 2013 added an upper bowl, a hubba with two rails, and a plaza with a brick bank-to-ledge, a big three-stair, a gap and a warped 'sushi dish' manual pad.

Heads up · It's down the hill from the college on Kipling Street; the older park's terrain sits alongside the 2013 addition.

Bring

  • 4 °C → gloves until you are warm; softer wheels and tyre pressure down a touch grip better in the cold
  • Always → a helmet (required at many parks and every track), and pads for transition and dirt
  • After dark → we don't know if it's lit; bring a light

How the read works

We track the water on the ground hour by hour, starting two days back. Rain adds to it; sun, wind and dry air take it away (the forecast's evaporation figure, which folds all three together); frost locks it in. Concrete sheds most of a downpour and dries in a couple of hours on a good day. Dirt soaks it up and takes a day or more, and riding it while it's mud ruts it. It's a model, not a camera: shady corners and the bottom of a bowl hold water longer. Weather from Open-Meteo.
