Opened in 2000 on the west edge of downtown, its 75,000 sq ft of concrete is Canada's largest outdoor skatepark, with street, intermediate and advanced courses, a cloverleaf bowl and a large full pipe. Locals still call it 'Millz' after the Shaw Millennium Park name, which changed to Cowboys Park in 2024.

Heads up · The skatepark is open 24 hours, but some bowls close for the Cowboys Music Festival around Stampede (roughly mid-June to mid-July).

Bring

  • 2 °C → gloves until you are warm; softer wheels and tyre pressure down a touch grip better in the cold
  • Always → a helmet (required at many parks and every track), and pads for transition and dirt

How the read works

We track the water on the ground hour by hour, starting two days back. Rain adds to it; sun, wind and dry air take it away (the forecast's evaporation figure, which folds all three together); frost locks it in. Concrete sheds most of a downpour and dries in a couple of hours on a good day. Dirt soaks it up and takes a day or more, and riding it while it's mud ruts it. It's a model, not a camera: shady corners and the bottom of a bowl hold water longer. Weather from Open-Meteo.
