🇺🇸Ballard Bowl
Bowl · Seattle, Washington, United States
read at 18:00 local · weather: open-meteo
Rebuilt when Ballard Commons Park opened at the end of 2005, the unfenced 4,000 sq ft pool-style bowl keeps curves from the original 2,500 sq ft Ballard Bowl and has Penrose pool coping.
Heads up · A small, busy bowl with no lights; good for learning to pump transitions.

How the read works
We track the water on the ground hour by hour, starting two days back. Rain adds to it; sun, wind and dry air take it away (the forecast's evaporation figure, which folds all three together); frost locks it in. Concrete sheds most of a downpour and dries in a couple of hours on a good day. Dirt soaks it up and takes a day or more, and riding it while it's mud ruts it. It's a model, not a camera: shady corners and the bottom of a bowl hold water longer. Weather from Open-Meteo.
